Sixteen militias of Houthis and supporters of ousted president Ali Abdallah Saleh were killed and scores injured as army and resistance forces attacked their posts in the western front of Taiz, the military spokesman in Taiz said.

Mansour al Hassani said on his Facebook page that government forces and militias engaged in fierce clashes for hours on Thursday.

Government forces managed to liberate large parts of Madrat district in western Taiz in addition to Al Moneim Mountain and other parts of Dhabab district.

Arab coalition warplanes backed the government forces in their operation during which an arms and ammunition depot was destroyed in eastern Taiz, the spokesman said, adding that the government forces would continue its attacks on the rest of the targets.
