A militant attack in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province Sunday morning left at least 19 Afghan soldiers and several militants dead, authorities said. The attack happened in the Ghaziabad district of Kunar at about 8:30 a.m. local time, Khaama Press reported. Abdul Musamim, a spokesman for the provincial governor, confirmed the attack and said at least two other soldiers were injured. Afghanistan Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi also confirmed the attack, adding that militants attacked two security check posts.
