The Afghan Defense Ministry said Wednesday that up to 81 militants have been killed and 19 others wounded during security forces' operations across the country within one day, Xinhua News Agency reported.

"Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) launched military operations in restive provinces, killing 81 militants, injuring 19 and arresting four others over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

The security forces also destroyed militants' three landmine and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) building factories besides seizing amount of weapons and ammunition during the raids, the statement noted.

The statement did not disclose if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
