Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Saturday announced his vice as a running mate in this year' general election.
Lungu announced during the official launch of his campaigns for the August 11 polls and the unveiling of the ruling party's manifesto in Lusaka that he has chosen Vice President Inonge Wina as his running mate in line with his promise that he will settle for a woman running mate.
Lungu told his supporters who had filled the 50,000-seater National Heroes Stadium to the rafters that his vice had executed her duties diligently since she was appointed as the country's vice president last year.
"She is a sober person. I am not changing the vice president; I am going with her. Madam Wina we continue up to 2021," he said.
The 75-year-old Wina became Zambia's first female vice president last year.
The Zambian leader, who became Zambia's sixth president after winning last year's election, also expressed confidence of winning this year's polls.
