
Prime Minister Mohamed Salem Basindwa on Sunday said that the government is making ceaseless efforts with Eritrean officials to release quickly the Yemeni fishermen. During his meeting with a number of families of the fishermen held by the Eritrean authorities, the Prime Minister said that the government has formed ministerial committees and ordered the relevant ministries to take the necessary measures to contact with Eritrean counterparts in this regard. Basindwa indicated to the actions taken by the government previously that resulted in the release of almost 1,400 Yemeni fishermen were detained in Eritrea since the mid of 2012, stressing the government will continue its efforts to set the rest of the detained Yemeni fishermen free. The Prime Minister listened to a number of families of the detained fishermen about the circumstances of their detention, expressed their aspiration of the government to intensify its efforts for releasing them.
