
Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr al-Qirbi met here on Thursday with Deputy UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Flavia Pansieri and her accompanying delegation, now visiting here. During the meeting, they dealt with all the actions taken by the Yemeni government to promote human rights and implement the recommendations of the Human Rights Council in this regard. The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of capacity building and training for government institutions and civil society organizations in the areas of human rights and to promote stability and development in Yemen. In the meeting, Dr. al-Qirbi also reviewed the outputs of the Friends of Yemen meeting in New York September 25, 2013. For her part, Pansieri praised the acts of the National Dialogue Conference, wishing it success in laying the correct foundations for the promotion of human rights. Earlier Wednesday, President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met with assistant UN secretary-general and UN envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar. Benomar is currently visiting Yemen to follow up the process of Yemen’s political settlement based on the GCC-brokered initiative and Security Council resolutions No. 2014 and 2051 as well as discussing ways to overcome the remaining difficulties encountering in the final outputs of the national dialogue conference (NDC). During the meeting, President Hadi briefed Benomar on the steps and procedures that enabled working groups and the presidium of the NDC to prepare its final outputs. The President emphasized the need of a national action by all working groups and political forces involved in the NDC, especially the conference is about to conclude.
