
Foreign Minister Dr. Abu Bakr al-Qirbi met on Sunday with ambassadors of Germany and Japan and Charge d’Affairs at Indian embassy to Yemen. During the meeting, they exchanged views about the reform of the UN Security Council. Dr. Al-Qirbi underlined the importance of reform of the Security Council so as to enable it to play its role in maintaining the international peace and security. He pointed to the importance of expanding the membership of the Security Council in both its permanent and non-permanent membership in order to be more effective and representative and reflects the international reality and the changes, noting that this requires a political will, particularly by the permanent members. The minister pointed out that the difficulties facing the Security Council in dealing with the current international crises have highlighted the need to reform the Council.
