Yemen, GCC, Saudi Arabia prepare for Friends imminent meeting

A meeting of donors to Yemen was held on Monday in Sana'a to discuss the current arrangements for Friends of Yemen 6th meeting, progress of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) and Yemen's humanitarian needs. During the meeting attended by representatives of donor States and regional and international organizations to Yemen, director of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) office in Sana'a Saad al-Arifi underscored that coordination is still underway between the GCC's General Secretariat, Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government to tie up the final arrangements for the 6th meeting of the Friends of Yemen Group in New York on September 25. The GCC General Secretariat and Saudi Arabia have made the initial arrangements for the imminent meeting of the Friends of Yemen, al-Arifi said, adding that "they have been submitted to the Yemeni government and coordination is ongoing to finalize the preparations to hold the meeting on time. Planning and International Cooperation Deputy Minister for studies and economic outlook sector Mohamed al-Haweri expressed the Yemeni government's appreciation of the keenness shown by the Yemen's development partners to contribute to support Yemen in the current exceptional situation.
