Violations against Rohingya, Palestinian children denounced

Kuwait has reiterated its backing to the United Nations Security Council efforts to safeguard children in armed conflicts.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the issue Wednesday, Deputy Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the UN Bader Al-Menakh urged the UNSC to do all in power to stop the gross violations against children in global hot spots and prevent its reoccurrence. He added that the perpetrators of human rights abuses against children should be brought to justice.

Menakh expressed Kuwait's deep concerns about the grave violations against children in armed conflicts including the recruitment for fighting, killing and maiming, sexual violence, abduction, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

On the tenth anniversary of Paris conference on protection of children in armed conflicts, Kuwait reiterates commitments to the conference outcome to bring to a halt these inhuman practices.

Menakh also seized the opportunity to shed lights on the Israeli human rights abuses against children in the occupied Palestinian territories. He also recalled the ongoing plight of Rohingya children in Burma.

He stressed that the desperate need for intensify international efforts to provide more effective protection to children and their rights across the globe, KUNA reported
