Vietnam elects new vice president

Vietnam's parliament elected Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh as the country's vice president on Friday.
With 450 "yes" votes out of 489 valid ballots cast by representatives at the ongoing 11th session of the 13th National Assembly (NA), Thinh was elected to replace Nguyen Thi Doan, who was relieved from the duty on Thursday.
Thinh was born in 1959 in central Quang Nam province. She holds a bachelor degree in law, history and political theory, as well as master degree in party building.
She became an alternate member of the 10th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPVCC) in 2006.
Thinh was a member of the 11th CPVCC in 2011 and is currently an official member of the 12th CPVCC.
Also on Friday, the Vietnamese legislature elected a new chief justice of the Supreme People's Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
Nguyen Hoa Binh, member of the 12th CPVCC, member of the 12th CPVCC's Secretariat, was elected as the new chief justice of the Supreme People's Court.
