The United States Military announced here on Monday that it has withdrawn 1,500 soldiers from South of Iraq in preparation to hand over Imam Ali military air base to the Iraqi authorities by the end of November.The US Military said in a statement that the 3rd Brigade of the 1st Knights Division withdrew 1,500 of its soldiers and more than 2,000 pieces of war materials from the area, adding that the withdrawal is part of the commitment to the security agreements between Baghdad and Washington calling on all US forces to depart Iraq before December 31.At the same time, US forces are working and coordinating with the Iraqi government on handing over Imam Ali military air base to decide on the future of the base.Imam Ali military air base, which was operated and controlled by US forces, was considered as one of the most important American bases in southern Iraq.
