
US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said US Secretary of State John Kerry will welcome any Egyptian proposal or initiative that helps efforts to push forward the stalled Middle East peace process.
In statements to foreign reporters in Washington, the spokesman reiterated that the United States welcomed any new ideas floated by Egypt and other major Arab countries that could contribute to resuming the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.
He also pointed out to Kerry's recent visit to Cairo to further explore a proposal by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to mediate a reconciliation between the Palestinians and Israelis.
