Islamabad - Irna

The US military officials, in another blatant violation of Pakistani laws, entered the northwestern city of Peshawar without any special permission to enter the area, police have said. Foreigners are required to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) to travel to Peshawar, the capital of Khyber pakhtoonkhwa province for security concerns, but it has been noticed over the past few weeks that the US diplomats violated these laws. Several groups of the American diplomats have been sent back to Islamabad last month after they failed to show to the police valid permission. In the fresh incident on Sunday, US officials, in two vehicles, broke police blockade on the Islamabad-Peshawar motorway. Sources and media reports said on Monday that two US vehicle bearing registration number SV-754 and SV-316 were on their way to Peshawar from Islamabad when police flagged down but they sped up their vehicle to crush police personnel. However, policemen narrowly escaped while both the vehicles broke the police blockade and later entered the US consulate in Peshawar. The boarded officials were identified as Colonel Stick, Colonel Paul Robert, Lieutenant Justin and another person Stg Johnlee. All of them were US personnel and entered the city forcefully without any security clearance. The sources added these US citizens had taken refuge in US Consulate. There had been a game of hide and seek between Pakistani and American intelligence agencies continued when the security sleuths tried to stop two vehicles, but they sped away, police said. A police official said that under a prevailing practice the personnel of intelligence agency, Inter Services Intelligence, check the documents of foreigners entering the provincial capital through Motorway. He said that no case was registered as the security officials did not lodge any complaint.
