The United States called on Russia to press Bashar al-Assad's regime to stop air strikes against opposition forces in Aleppo and the Damascus suburbs, US State Department said.
In a statement issued Monday, the State Department said that Washington urged the Assad regime to end its escalating attacks on Aleppo and Daraya, as well as besieging towns and obstructing humanitarian access.
US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed these concerns in a call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and urged him to press the Syrian regime to immediately halt all air strikes against opposition forces and innocent civilians in Aleppo and the Damascus suburbs," according to the statement.
