
Unidentified gunmen fired on sunday a rocket at the epicentre of a hotel and club of the armed forces in the city of Arish , capital of North Sinai Governorate . a security source told the semi-official Middle East News Agency (MENA) that the rocket launched of East Arish and landed in front of the armed forces'club and nearby other military facilties at Salaam suburb in Arish. The rocket landing caused heavy smoke and big sound and slighlty injured an army private . It also smashed window glasses of some nearby buildings . In a related development, other unknown militants attacked a police station in North Sinai's Arish , capital of North Sinai Governorate as early on Saturday, firing at it for nearly ten minutes, no causalities were reported, security sources said in a statement carried by the (MENA) on Sunday. Eyewitnesses said that the armed assailants were riding a privately-owned car when they fired at the police station, according to the state news agency. The security sources fired back but the assailants managed to escape without being injured or leaving any injuries. Egyptian army announced Saturday evening that it has carried out an air raid on suspected terrorists in the northern Sinai Peninsula's city of Rafah. On his official Facebook page, Egypt's Military Spokesman Colonel Ahmad Ali said that army has found and dealt with "terrorist" groups in North Sinai, including culprits behind the killing of 16 Egyptian soldiers on 5 August 2012 near the border with Israel as well as the abduction of several army and police soldiers on 15 May 2013. "These terrorist groups were planning to commit crimes against members of the armed forces, the police and people of North Sinai," Ali added. Citing security sources and eyewitness, the Egyptian TV reported that an Egyptian Apache Chopper has carried out the raid against militants in the town of Sheikh Zowaid in Rafah. Sinai has suffered a security vacuum since the January 2011 uprising which ended Hosni Mubarak's rule. The situation escalated with the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July. Militants have attacked police and security forces on a daily basis following Morsi's ouster.
