
British Minister for Middle East, North Africa Tobias Ellwood said Monday the UK allocated £2 million for the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS)'s emergency IED clearance activity in areas freed from Daesh in Iraq.
"UK announces £2m for UNMAS emergency IED clearance activity in areas freed from Daesh in Iraq, so families can go home safely," Ellwood tweeted.
In December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.
