UN's Ban Ki-moon to meet Security Council's 5 permanent members

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will meet on Friday with the five permanent members of UN Security Council, a statement from his spokesperson's office said. Ban cut short his visit to Europe on Thursday in order to establish contact with member countries on the recent developments regarding a possible military operation on Syria, the statement said. Ban is scheduled to meet representatives from the US, France, the UK, Russia, and China, while the UN mission still in Damascus is expected to submit Saturday a preliminary report on their findings to the UN Secretary General. UNSC permanent members gathered on Thursday to discuss a draft resolution proposed by the UK but failed to reach an agreement.
