UAEREP participates in AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco

A delegation from the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science, UAEREP, led by Alya Al Mazroui, Manager of the programme, has concluded a series of highly productive meetings with leading global researchers and scientists at the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) annual Fall Meeting held at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.

The recently concluded meeting presented an opportunity for UAEREP delegation to connect with scientists, researchers and technologists specialising in a wide array of geophysical sciences. As the largest earth and space science meeting in the world, the AGU conference attracted more than 26,000 scientists, educators, students, and leaders from across the globe to discuss and share insights on the latest research, discoveries, trends, challenges and innovations in the field.

Speaking on their second participation at the AGU Fall Meeting, Alya Al Mazroui said, "We were honoured to represent the UAEREP and share our ideas and achievements with such a distinguished group of delegates. We believe that the innovative research being carried out by many of the scientists we met could significantly compliment the original and creative ideas currently being explored through our program. We very much welcome the interest in and support for the UAE initiative expressed by a large number of participants at the meeting. We hope to maintain this momentum and receive even more high-quality submissions from the United States and beyond in our upcoming third cycle."

The UAEREP delegation also met with 18 researchers from 15 institutions including Yale University, Caltech, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the US National Science Foundation, Weather Modification Inc., the German Research Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

The meetings allowed all the participants the chance to explore theories and applications that could contribute to advance rain enhancement research and technologies. The delegation also discussed with researchers from all around the world the programme’s objectives and requirements for participation in the third cycle that starts on 17th January, 2017.
