The UAE has participated in a high-level meeting on Libya, chaired by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly,UNGA 72, in New York.

Faris Mohammed Ahmed Suhail Al Mazrouei, Adviser to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs represented the UAE. A number of Libyan officials in addition to Ghassan Salame, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, UNSMIL, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Guterres launched the 'United Nations Strategy on Libya', which includes the achievement of seven main priorities represented in reactivating a comprehensive political process based on recent positive developments, building credibility with the Libyan people, strengthening security arrangements, structuring national security and coordinating international participation, including the efforts of the neighbouring countries of Libya.

Al Mazrouei also took part in the 8th ministerial meeting of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum on the sidelines of the UNGA 72.

He also participated in another meeting of the UN, which discussed ways to prevent terrorists from using the internet to spread terrorist ideas and extremism. A number of issues were also reviewed during the meeting.
