UAE secures advanced ranking across 6 competiveness indices in 2017
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The United Arab Emirates has achieved impressive improvement across six global competitiveness indices over the past eight months of 2017, further consolidating its investment-conducive environment in line with the government's sustainable development drive.

The country maintained its competitive edge and top position regionally across the six global indices. At the World Competitiveness Yearbook issued by the International Institute for Administrative Development, the country moved five rankings up in one year to the 10th position globally and the first regionally thanks to the tremendous achievements made in 2017.

On the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report, the country advanced to the 16th positional globally out of 135 surveyed nations from all over the world thanks to its legislative environment which ensures competitiveness across several economic platforms.

The UAE was ranked 35th globally by the Global Innovation Index, up from the 41st position in 2016, placing itself among the most innovative countries all over the world.

On the Doing Business Report, the country came 26th, 21st on the World Happiness Index and 46th on the Gender Equality Index.

The achievements translate the eminent role played by both the public and private sectors in the economic development drive and the government's sustained efforts to encourage more contributions by the private sectors as a main enabler for economic growth, including creation of job opportunities, improvement of services and ensuring sustainability across all economic domains.
