Turkish PM meets UN Secretary General, German Chancellor

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday separately met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The meetings were held closed to press in a meeting room at the Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg in Russia, host state of the G20, and lasted around 45 minutes each. PM meets South African president and Ethiopian PM Erdogan met Friday with South African President Jacob Zuma and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn separately.   Erdogan came together with the leaders as part of the G20 Leaders' Summit held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. The meetings were held closed to press and lasted half an hour each. Recent developments in Syria and the international community's reaction to the issue were discussed in the meeting, according to the office of the Spokesperson for the UN. Regarding Cyprus, Ban welcomed Turkey’s continued commitment to achieving a mutually acceptable and lasting solution, encouraging it to continue to play a positive role in support of this process.
