Speaking to reporters on Air Force 1, US President Donald Trump revealed there are no immediate plans to advance the case for his immigration ban to the Supreme Court, according to a CBC report Friday.

The day after the Ninth District Court decision, upholding the stay granted to block Trump’s immigration ban, the US President spoke to reporters on Air Force 1, on his way to a weekend in Florida. Asked about the decision and his team’s strategy, Trump said that, although he is optimistic his team would win their argument before the Supreme Court, other options are being considered.

Pressed about what this means, Trump replied that “a brand new order” is a definite possibility. He also elaborated that a new order would change very little from the original.

An anonymous White House official reinforced Trump’s statements, saying the administration is not planning an immediate request of the Supreme Court to overturn the restraining order. Instead, the official revealed, they would argue its constitutionality in the lower courts.

During a press conference earlier on Friday with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, Trump stressed that, despite the appearance of taking their time in responding to the court ruling, the administration would move “very rapidly” to protect the United States in the wake of the decision.

He did not, however, specify exactly what would be involved. “We’ll be doing things to continue to keep our country safe. It will happen rapidly. We will not allow people into our country who are looking to do harm to our people.”

According to the CBC report, Trump continued to call up images of non-specific threats against the United States, saying that he had “learned tremendous things that you could only learn, frankly, if you were in a certain position, namely President. And there are tremendous threats to our country. We will not allow that to happen, I can tell you that. We will not allow that to happen.”
