Thousands of government’s opponents, supporters rally near Bulgarian parliament

In the first labor day of the National Assembly of Bulgaria (the country’s parliament) about one thusand of opponents and supporters of the government lead by Plamen Oresharski gathered near the residence of the legislative body. The participants of the anti-governmental rally divided into groups and settled at the approaches to the parliament’s building. A metallic barrier is put around the National Assembly’s building to ensure free access of the deputies to the building. The protesters demand the Cabinet to immediately step down from office. “Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria” (GERB) opposition party leader and ex-Prime Minister (2009-2013) Boyko Borisov came out to protesters and stated about the necessity of “working on the Cabinet’s resignation”. “It’s important for Bulgaria and for our economy,” GERB’s leader said. Supporters of Oresharski’s cabinet gathered near the memorial church of St. Alexander Nevsky. The The protesters hold posters that say “Let the government work” and “No to division and anarchy”. Significant police and gendarmerie forces are gathered near the Bulgarian parliament. Both rallies are peaceful.
