Abu Dhabi will host, on Wednesday, the press conference to announce the event "This is the Arabian Gulf," to be launched in Rome on 27th May.

Abu Dhabi will be the second capital of a Gulf country to announce such an event after Manama.

The campaign will underscore the strenuous efforts of the GCC member states to combat terrorism, extremism, hatred and bigotry.

"This is the Arabian Gulf" comes within the framework of the strenuous efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to combat terrorism and extremism.

The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that a three-day roadshow will be launched in Rome on 27th May to highlight the values of amity, peaceful co-existence and respect of religions and cultures, which mark the Arabian Gulf societies.

The organisers of the roadshow have lined up visits to the Vatican and the Islamic centres, in addition to workshops.

Organising committee member, Fawziya Zainal, said that the exhibition will feature pavilions that showcase dozens of non-governmental and private enterprises.

High-level religious and economic figures representing the GCC countries will take part in a major forum, focussing on products that reflect the Gulf people’s deep-rooted culture and heritage.

Fawziya Zainal said that the UAE's initiative to appoint the first minister of tolerance reflects the human development achieved by the country to keep pace with or even improve on urban development.

She stressed that the GCC countries are today in the forefront of countries involved in humanitarian work around the world to provide aid to many far flung areas, which reflects the global humanitarian dimension of their governments and peoples.

She pointed out that the UAE ranked first globally as the largest international donor of official development aid compared to the total national income.

"This is the Arabian Gulf" builds on the successful "This Is Bahrain", series of international roadshows which were held in London, Berlin, Brussels, Paris, New York and Washington, showcasing the kingdom’s strides in the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
