Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete on Friday met with Liu Yunshan, a visiting senior Chinese official and discussed with him efforts to enhance ties between Tanzania and China, which has been conserved successively by leaders of the two countries. Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived in Dar es Salaam on Thursday for a good-will visit to Tanzania at the invitation of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania. Liu said during the meeting that China and Tanzania have respected and supported each other unswervingly since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 47 years ago. China- Tanzanian friendly cooperative relations have maintained consistent, healthy and steady development, which sets an example for the ties between China and African and other developing countries, featuring equal treatment and sincere cooperation. Liu commented highly on the relations of the two countries, saying that China-Tanzania ties have been consolidated in recent years with strengthened political trust, continuously enlarged trade and economic cooperation, and fruitful cooperation achievement in culture, education and public health. Liu, also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, noted that China is truly willing to further deepen its cooperation with Tanzania through joint efforts, and would like to share development opportunities while encountering challenges and difficulties with Tanzania shoulder by shoulder, with the aim of sustaining the development of the traditional friendly relations of the two countries. Kikwete said that the efforts by former leaders of the two countries have created a solid foundation and valuable advancement for the bilateral relations, from which Tanzania has benefited a lot. China has provided abundance of assistance to Tanzania which served as powerful force for the development of his country, said Kikwete, expressing hope that Tanzania would together with China sufficiently utilize the deepening cooperation to push forward economic progress of the two countries and improve livelihood of the two peoples. "We will hand down the all-weather Tanzania-China friendship generation by generation," said Kikwete.
