Polat appeared in court and was officially arrested Tuesday for his involvement in the rocket attack on the Dikmen police guest house in Ankara on September 20. Polat, who was shot by police and has been undergoing treatment in Ankara Numune hospital in the neighborhood of S?hhiye since the attack, denied the accusations, "I cannot think straight. I want to continue my medical treatment." Polat, a member of the outlawed Marxist group DHKP-C, was shot after he and his accomplice Muharrem Karatas started firing at police after they were asked to surrender, according to police. Karatas was shot dead. Karatas had been wanted by authorities for a rocket attack at ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party’s headquarters in Ankara last March. The DHKP-C is responsible for a suicide attack on the US Embassy in Ankara in February which left one dead and one seriously wounded. The Dikmen rocket attack caused no casualties. The rocket struck the first floor of the police facilities building, while another rocket targeted the annex building located on the grounds of the Police General Directorate's social services campus across from the scene of the initial attack.
