Manama - BNA

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) has extended sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, the Bahraini people and Arab and Islamic nations on the advent of the Hajj season and Eid Al-Adha, wishing them continuous happiness and happy returns of the occasions. This came as Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa chaired here today the SCIA's regular meeting. The council praised the services provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for Haj pilgrims, lauding the on-going projects to expand the Holy Mosque in Mecca and other holy sites. The Supreme Council called upon Muslims to be more united and renounce abhorrent sectarian and factional divisions. It also called on Bahraini pilgrims to comply with the laws regulating the Haj season and be committed to laws and warnings issued by Saudi authorities on the need to avoid staging demonstrations and raising political slogans so as to ensure their safety and maintain the spiritual nature of the Hajj. In another context, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs said that Bahrain has always been known for its moderation and protection of all faiths and sects which has entitled it to be an oasis of peaceful co-existence, tolerance, cooperation and fraternity, adding that the kingdom will remain –as it has always been, a role model in those noble religious and civilizational values. It pointed out that the SCIA is an example of the sects' co-existence and cooperation in the building and development marches. The Supreme Council hailed the Bahraini people's awareness and commitment to its religious and moral values and deep-rooted cultural and civilisational heritage, which, it affirmed, has immunised the kingdom from sectarian conflicts taking place outside it. It asserted that the deep-rooted genuine traditions and solid ties bonding the citizens has fortified the one-family Bahraini society.
