A suicide bomber Sunday blew himself up at a funeral in southern Iraq, killing at least 25 people and injuring 60, dpa quoted security officials as saying. The bomber detonated an explosive belt around his waist at a mourning ceremony held in a mosque in the city of Hilla, some 100 kilometres south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. Two more civilians were killed and 22 wounded when two back-to-back car bombs exploded in Baquba, 57 kilometres north east of Baghdad, reported independent broadcaster Alsumaria TV, citing police. According to United Nations estimates, 1,057 people were killed in July, the deadliest month in more than five years in Iraq, while at least 916 civilians were killed in August.
