South Korea, DPRK agree to hold meeting between separated families

South Korea and the DPRK have agreed to hold a meeting between families, who were separated by the Korean War, on Mount Kumgang on September 25-30, Yonhap News Agency reported on Friday. The talks are designed to coordinate the details of the meeting between family members, the news agency said. Since 2000 the Republic of Korea and the DPRK held 18 meetings between separated families. The last meeting was held in November 2010. In South Korea there are about 73,000 people who seek to see their relatives living in North Korea. “The problem of separated families is one of the priorities. I’ll do my best to solve this pressing issue through discussions,” the head of the South Korean delegation said before the talks.
