
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, during his chairmanship of the AU Peace and Security Council summit on the sidelines of the UN general assembly later in the day, will seek to get viewpoints closer and reach a consensus among 15 members in the council to form a regional protection force in South Sudan.
President Sisi will seek to reach a consensus in order to establish a regional protection force in South Sudan in order to restore stability, Egypt's Ambassador in Ethiopia Abu Bakr Hefny.
The AUPSC has 15 members. All are elected by the AU Executive Council and endorsed by the Assembly at its next session. Five members are elected for three-year terms and 10 for two-year terms, usually to take up office on the first day of April following endorsement by the Assembly.
