Talks held between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday tackled means of boosting bilateral ties, fighting terrorism, and crises in the Middle East, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Sisi expressed appreciation for the warm reception, saying Egypt was keen on boosting cooperation with India in all fields, Youssef said.
Sisi praised achievements made in India, saying Egypt was looking forward to benefiting from Indian expertise, he added.
Modi welcomed Sisi, saying he was pleased to meet him again after the several meetings held between them. The Indian premier praised the Egyptian political leadership and its achievements in two years, especially in maintaining peace, security, and stability in Egypt, along with the mega projects, topped by the Suez Canal Corridor project.
Modi touched upon the leading and vital role Egypt played in Africa and the Arab world, highlighting its historic stance in defending the issues of developing countries.
During the visit, Sisi expounded the outlines of the comprehensive reform program Egypt was implementing to boost the economy, including administrative and legislative measures aimed at creating an attractive investment climate.
The president said Egypt was interested in having more Indian investments in various fields.
The meeting also tackled coordination between the two countries in fighting terrorism and extremism, as the two leaders agreed on the importance of concerting international efforts to uproot terrorism.
Fighting terrorism should not be done through security measures only, but societal, cultural, and development aspects as well, the two leaders agreed.
