Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi invited his Portuguese counterpart Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to visit Egypt soon to enhance partnership between the two countries.

This came during a joint press conference held between the two presidents, following their bilateral talks at the Presidential Palace in Lisbon.

President Sisi also called for activating the joint Egyptian-Portuguese committee swiftly in order to promote cooperation between the two countries in the various spheres.

He also urged the Portuguese investors to participate in the national projects, which are being carried out by Egypt, and benefit from the available investment opportunities.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi extended thanks to the Portuguese president for the warm reception and hospitality, saying that ties binding Egypt and Portugal are strong and historic.

Portugal plays a crucial political and cultural role at the international arena, said Sisi, adding that it also has contributions to promoting cooperation with the various countries.

Talking about the situation in Egypt, President Sisi said that Egypt has gone through several changes over the past years, adding that he appreciates Portugal's balanced stance toward the developments in the democratic transition in Egypt.

Egypt is looking forward to Portugal's support in dealing with the daunting challenges besetting the country, he went on to say.

The Egyptian-Portuguese ties witnessed remarkable development over the recent period, Sisi said, adding that Egypt is keen on further promoting ties with Portugal.

He further invited Portuguese investors and businessmen to benefit from the promising opportunities in enhancing infrastructure.

He also invited them to make use of the investment incentives, which are offered by the government, as part of the new investment law.

President Sisi also underlined the importance of maintaining coordination between Egypt and Portugal to confront several challenges, topped by terrorism and extremism, along with combating illegal immigration and refugees.
