
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi honored eight scholars and conferred Medal of Sciences and Arts of the First Class on them at a celebration held on Thursday to mark al Mawlid al Nabawi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday).
The honoring of the eight scholars came in recognition of their remarkable efforts in the religious, cultural and parliamentary fields in Egypt and other Islamic countries.
The honorees include six Egyptian scholars. They are members of the Islamic Research Academy and former dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies Abdullah Mabrouk Mohamed el Naggar, ex-president of Al Azhar University Dr. Osama Mohamed Hassan el Abed, former dean of the Faculty of Theology Bakr Ibrahim Awad, former director of the Endowments Directorate in Aswan Sheikh Mohamed Abdelaziz Mohamed Ali, General Director of the Foreign Relations Department at the Awqaf Ministry Dr. Tareq Abdel-Hamid Abdel Raouf Abdel-Wahab and preacher at the Awqaf Ministry Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Shazeli.
The other two honorees are Bahraini Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ali al Khalifa and Head of the Kuwaiti charitable projects office in Egypt Ismail al Kanderi.
The celebration is organized by the Awqaf Ministry at Al Azhar conference center.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aaal, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam.
