Sharif: Change around the corner

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said change is just around the corner hoping people would return his party to power in next elections. “The PML-N is working on a comprehensive programme to rehabilitate the economy and resolve problems faced by the people and the country,” Sharif said while addressing workers at the meeting of the general council of the PML-N in Lahore on Monday. He said Pakistan was on the path of progress and prosperity when civilian governments including his own were in power. But military dictators interrupted the process and derailed the democratic order. Sharif said there was no terrorism, suicide bombings and extremism during the PML-N’s tenure. “Our present would have been much better if we were allowed to complete the term,” he said. In an apparent reference to Imran Khan, Sharif said some leaders who were claiming to bring change are fast getting out of sight. Without naming the rival PML-Q, Sharif slammed politics of hypocrisy being pursued by its leaders who would repeatedly pledge to get Gen. Pervez Musharraf elected in uniform many times over. “Today they do not say a kind word for him and are part of a government that is planning to get red warrants for Musharraf’s arrest. The meeting elected Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as president of the PML-N Punjab. Sharif greeted Shahbaz on his election and lauded his performance in Punjab.
