The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khaled bin Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa participated in the 4th Strategic Joint ministerial Meeting between GCC and Turkey which was held this morning in Istanbul. Discussed during the meeting were the Joint work plan between GCC Countries and Turkey, the special committees report as well as sub committees' recommendations. As part of the final communiqué, the two sides affirmed on the strong support for the positive initiatives made by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa including amendment to the constitution. The ministers during the meeting affirmed that this will enhance the parliamentarian work and further allow public involvement with the state affairs. This comes as part of the continued reform path of HM the King to help with developing the democratic march as well as support the rule of Law, human rights, along with economic, social and cultural development that would meet the aspirations of the people of Bahrain. Shaikh Khaled affirmed that Bahrain looks at GCC - Turkish Strategic cooperation as an importance pillar for security and aiding with bringing stability to the region. He highlighted the need to further broaden dialogue between the two parties to include all strategic issues to overcome challenges. Shaikh Khaled welcomed Bahrain hosting the 5th Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and Turkey. The two sides also tackled the latest development in the Middle East as well as international issues, especially that related to Palestinian, Yemen and Iraq. Meanwhile, both sides also expressed their deep regret for the violence Syrian is witnessing stressing on the need for joint action on implementing the Arab League Initiatives.
