Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

A UAE newspaper has said that the UAE always sets an exemplary example when it comes to dedication and commitment towards any project it takes up.

"Arrangements are impeccably on track to make Expo 2020 Dubai an extraordinary event, especially since it will be the first time such a mega fair is staged in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, MENASA," said the Gulf Today in an editorial on Thursday.

The paper continued, "Between October 2020 and April 2021, the World Expo in Dubai will bring together more than 180 nations and an international audience of 25 million visitors.

"The Expo will provide visitors with the chance to see spectacular architecture, merge with global cultures, examine thought provoking exhibitions, and taste food from every corner of the globe.

"Over 70 percent of all visitors are expected to come from outside the UAE the largest proportion of international visitors in Expo history.

"Interestingly, thanks to ardent efforts being made by the organisers, the Expo’s global visitors would be able to get a taste of authentic Emirati flavours.

"The officials have already launched a search for producers of Emirati and regional products including dates, Arabian coffee and sweets, chocolate and spices, which will form part of a warm, mouth-watering welcome to the guests.

"This is the second of up to 40 licensed product categories put out to tender by Expo following last month’s campaign in search of souvenir manufacturers.

"Licensed food products will be sold at selected outlets across the UAE, including dedicated Expo retail stores that are expected to open in 2018, as well as the Expo 2020 Dubai site.

"As Najeeb Al Ali, Executive Director of Bureau Expo 2020 Dubai explains, "We want to work with producers to create a range of products that authentically reflect our heritage and the multinational diversity of the modern UAE. We have an incredible, vibrant food scene that combines traditional Arabian products like qahwa, dates and spices, with international influences, and we want to share that with Expo 2020 Dubai visitors."

"The UAE has an established track record of successful participation in World Expos. The national pavilion from the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai is now a permanent fixture on the skyline of Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. With innovative food concepts expected to reflect the skills of local producers, the Expo 2020 Dubai will serve the world a taste of the UAE.

"And that is bound to offer a great feeling for every UAE citizen and resident."
