Moscow - Itar-Tass

The Russian Investigative Committee is conducting a search at the vegetable storehouses in Biryulyovo, taking financial documents and materials about migrant workers, SK spokesman Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass. "At present, investigators are conducting a search, in which they take materials for the investigation, including financial documents containing information about activities of the enterprise and facts of employing workers," Markin said. Local residents gathered for a mass demonstration near the storehouses on Sunday to express protest in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old local resident committed on the night to October 10. A group of young men after a rally at the site of the Muscovite's death went to the Biryuza shopping mall and crushed everything there, shouting nationalist slogans. Deputy Moscow Mayor Alexander Gorbenko said on Monday the vegetable storehouses were closed for five days for inspections to be conducted by the Federal Migration Service and the federal consumer rights protection service (Rospotrebnadzor). It will be clear in five days what to do with the storehouses, he said. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has ordered to set up a headquarters to settle the situation in Biryulyovo. The staff dealing with the situation includes Moscow FMS official Olga Kirillova, Moscow police chief Anatoly Yakunin, Southern Moscow district prefect Georgy Smoleyevsky and Deputy Mayor Alexander Gorbenko. At present, the situation around the storehouses and in the district is calm. No incidents were reported near the Biryuza shopping centre on Monday. The situation is under police control. About 100 people, mostly reporters, have gathered near the shopping centre, an Itar-Tass correspondent reported. There are five-seven buses of police and OMON units. City officials are expected to meet with Biryulyovo residents at 20:00 Moscow time on Monday. The Moscow investigative department will give a tough legal assessment for the position of officials of the Buryulyovo district administration and other controlling authorities, whose inaction led to growing outrage among residents over law violations, Investigative Committee spokesman Markin told Itar-Tass. The Investigative Committee also has launched an inquiry into the facts of attacks on OMON policemen during the spontaneous protest actions in Biryulyovo, he added. Markin told Itar-Tass that Moscow investigators did everything to find and detain Yegor Shcherbakov's murderer as soon as possible. The investigation into the murder case is in its active phase. Experienced criminal experts and specialists of the Investigative Committee’s central office are participating in the investigation, he said. A great number of witnesses were questioned. "The investigators use all the powers within the law to solve the crime and detain the suspected person as soon as possible," he said. Twenty-five-year old Yegor Shcherbakov was killed in Biryulyovo, southern Moscow, on the night to October 10. An unidentified person, supposedly an immigrant, stabbed him with a knife for several times before his girlfriend's eyes. The crime stirred up violent anti-migrant protests among residents in the district.
