
A fire flared up today at a wooden partition in the eighth floor of a building under construction in Makkah and was successfully controlled by nine civil defense brigades, it was reported. Nobody was injured in the fire which was stopped from spreading to the rest of the building or the neighboring buildings in Al-Mesfela district. Major Saleh Al-Alyani, Media spokesman of Makkah Civil Defense, said an investigation was launched into the incident to know the cause of the fire. Some 350 inmates of neighboring hotels were evacuated by the civil defense for safety pending the end of the extinguishing operation, he added.
