Russia has transferred $10 million to the United Nations to support Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday. Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office at Geneva Alexey Borodavkin released a statement today saying that Russia transferred hundreds of tons of urgent human aid to Syrian refugees displaced to Syria's neighboring countries. He added that Russia was keen to continue delivering aid to refugees. He also said in his statement that Russia was working on lifting all economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian regime. Borodavkin cited the sanctions as one of the reasons that led to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria.
