Russian embassy announces release of abducted Russian sailor
Abuja - Arab Today

The Russian embassy in Nigeria announced the release of abducted Russian sailor that was kidnapped by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea late in February.

In a tweet on Friday, the embassy thanked people who participated in the rescue of the sailor.

On Monday, the Russian embassy denied the murder of the Russian sailor.

Pirates seized the Bourbon Liberty 251 in the Gulf of Guinea in Nigeria’s territorial waters on February 23 this year. The French crew managed to send a distress call. Nigerian navy sailors set most of the crew free during a release operation. The pirates escaped with two hostages, including a citizen of Russia.
