Russia is determined to stay the course in relations with the United States, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Tuesday. “We have no doubts about preserving continuity in our relations with the United States,” he said. “Everything that has been achieved in recent years… has been achieved through consensus,” Ryabkov said, referring in particular to arms control and Russia’s admission to the WTO. “Moscow unequivocally reaffirms its commitment to this work; there will be no revaluation of values - that would be at odds with the country’s interests,” he said. The United States looks forward to working with president-elect Vladimir Putin after the results are certified and he is sworn in as Russia's president, the State Department said on Monday. With 100 percent of the ballots counted, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin won 63.6 percent of the vote in Sunday’s presidential election, securing victory in the first round to take the post of the president for the next six years, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported on Monday.
