Russia's Supreme Court Chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev was in intensive care at a hospital in Ghana Tuesday, after being injured in a car accident in the country, Russian Itar-Tass news agency reported on Tuesday. Viacheslav Mikhailovic Lebedev was airlifted to Accra after a tipper truck hit his convoy in the town of Ho, 150 kilometres north of the capital on Monday, the Ghanaian government said. He was in a 'stable condition,' a government official said. Lebedev was visiting the country to open a conference of the Ghana Bar Association in Ho. Initial investigations show that Lebedev’s convoy was travelling near the town of Tsito in the southeastern Volta region when a truck suddenly veered into its lane. Lebedev was in Ghana on a four-day visit at the invitation of the country's chief justice. Traffic accidents are a common in Ghana due to the poor condition of its roads and bad driving.
