Russia views North Korea’s new attempt to launch a ballistic missile as another violation of the UN Security Council resolutions, the Russian news agency Tass reported on Tuesday, quoting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.
"Our attitude is clear: any launches with the use of ballistic technologies are banned by the UN Security Council resolutions, that’s why we will characterize this as another violation of the existing resolutions of the Security Council," Morgulov said.
The high-ranking diplomat said in general the situation on the Korean Peninsula remains "without noticeable changes."
"This issue is always in the center of our attention," he added. "We confirm that it demands the most serious approach on the part of all the concerned parties."
Mass media reports say a North Korean missile launch from Wonsan, Gangwon Province, failed on Tuesday morning.
