Russia’s state-run nuclear power corporation Rosatom will open its third overseas nuclear information centre in Bangladesh’s Dhaka on October 2, the corporation’s communications department said on Friday. The centre would appear in Dhaka after Rosatom and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of intentions on June 4, 2012. Rosatom’s information centre will raise awareness of civil nuclear power and will promote positive image of the nuclear industry, Russia’s nuclear technologies and training. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Rosatom Director-General Sergei Kiriyenko are expected to unveil the centre. Over the past four years 17 nuclear information centres have been opened in Russia - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Smolensk, Saratov, Voronezh and others. Rosatom plans to expand a network of its overseas centres in countries using Russian nuclear technologies for building nuclear plants. In 2012 it opened its first information centres in Vietnam’s Hanoi and Turkey’s Mersin. In 2013 it also plans to open its centre in Turkey’s Istanbul and in 2014 - in the Belarusian capital of Minsk.
