Beirut - WAM

Under the auspices of the U.A.E. Embassy, the U.A.E. Red Crescent Authority continues its relief campaign to provide necessary humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugee families in Lebanon as part of the Champaign "Our Hearts with the People of Syria" that is benefiting tens of thousands of Syrian families in camps for displaced people in Lebanon, especially in the cold mountainous regions. Aid includes food, blankets and winter clothing and a variety of heating methods. Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, Secretary-General, U.A.E. Red Crescent Authority, affirmed that the directives of the prudent leadership are to meet humanitarian needs and provide assistance to needy people, providing food or health-care requirements, especially in Jordan and Lebanon which have witnessed the largest number of Syrian refugees. He said that the aid comes within the initiative of the Champaign "Our Hearts with the People of Syria" which was launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and was implemented by the U.A.E. Red Crescent Authority in cooperation with the National Media Council, and with the participation of large segments of benefactors, both citizens and residents, who are in solidarity with the suffering of Syrian refugees and wish to alleviate their suffering, especially in light of the difficult climatic conditions in which they live through the cold winter. Dr. Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi noted that the campaign support and relief to Syrian refugees is still on-going, and the door is open to institutions and private sector companies and businessmen to support the efforts of the Red Crescent relief to Syrian refugees. He pointed out that the Authority has already begun the implementation of its programme to send urgent relief campaign proceeds to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. The beneficiaries from the assistance initiative expressed their thanks and gratitude to the U.A.E. for the valuable aid presented by the RCA, stressing that the U.A.E. Red Crescent is always at the forefront of humanitarian relief organisations when a disaster occurs in the Arab region and other countries in the world. They also expressed their thanks to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for launching the campaign. On behalf of all the beneficiaries, they offered thanks to the U.A.E. Embassy in Lebanon for its efforts in overseeing the relief campaigns for the U.A.E. Red Crescent and all other U.A.E. institutions.
