Residents of the Biryulyovo Zapodnoe district in southern Moscow are staging a rally demanding the dismissal of the district head, Viktor Legavin, following the murder of a local young man attributed to migrant workers, Tass reports from the site. Yegor Shcherbakov, 25, was killed on Thursday night in a quarrel over a girl. The rally also demands the closure of a local vegetable warehouse where a lot of migrant workers work, as local residents believe some of them may have been involved in the murder. The participants in the meeting also demand the sacking of the leadership of local police precinct N137. People keep coming to the site of the crime, bringing flowers and lighting candles. About 40 people of all ages take part in the meeting. The rally proceeds calmly. Over the past two days, groups of up to 100 local residents have been coming to the police precinct asking police to step up search for the criminal. “The Moscow police department has announced that one million roubles will be paid for help in the search for the criminal,” police sources say. Moscow police chief Anatoly Yakunin is heading for the site to meet with residents of the neighborhood.
