Moscow - Itar-Tass
Supporters of the LDPR party headed by firebrand opposition leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky rallied outside the US embassy in Moscow on Wednesday proclaiming "The U.S. is a world gendarme." "The United States has adopted practically all the decisions on attacking Syria. On Wednesday, the international committee of the U.S. Congress will pass its resolution and on Monday, they will say OK to the liquidation of Syria," Zhirinovsky said. "Is there any difference from Hitler's politics? Hitler never asked for permission from the Reichstag, he simply began wars. Since then, achievements of democracy have made it possible to talk to parliamentarians," the party leader said. Zhirinovsky said that though the US claimed its troops would not step onto Syrian soil "Why should they?" he asked. "They will destroy everything from their ships like they did in Belgrade. I think Michael McFaul (US ambassador to Russia) has been listening to me now. He is ashamed, he loves Russia but has to follow the politics of the U.S. State Department." "Possible use of force against Syria will arouse a storm of indignation in the whole Islamic world," Zhirinovsky said. "As many as 60 percent of US citizens are against the war. There are objections from the military, who have not healed their wounds yet after the war in Vietnam," he said, adding that "The US has aroused hatred in the whole world. Today, the US has been arresting Russian citizens all over the world. This is lawlessness and gangsterism,” Zhirinovsky said. "McFaul must have been looking at me now and putting everything down. In an hour's time, John Kerry (US Secretary of State) will be reading all that. Syria is merely an episode. Next, the victim of bombardment will be Iran."
