
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a legal decision today, lifting the ban on protests during Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. According to the legal decision announced from Russian Presidency’s website, the previous ban of protests between 7th of January and 21st of March in Sochi has been lifted. The new legal decision allows protests in areas that the Olympic Organizing Committee and the Municipality of Sochi will decide together. In July 2013, Chechen militant Dokka Umarov, called his supporters to prevent the Olympic games that will be held in Sochi. Following this announcement, Russian government said substantive security measures would be commenced during the games.
