The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union has welcomed the Agreement signed on 14th July between the Government of Sudan and the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) , adopting the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. "This is a positive development which would contribute significantly to the promotion of peace and security in Darfur," said a communique issued by the Council following its 286 th meeting held on Tuesday. The PSC called for continuing the efforts aimed at urging the armed movements to join the peace settlement, according to the communique.. It has also decided to extend , for a further period of 12 months, the mandate of the United Nation/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
