Washington - Anadolu

The National Black Church Initiative (NBCI) started on Monday a protest in front of the United States Department of Justice following jurors found George Zimmerman not guilty in the killing of Trayvon Martin. The NBCI is a coalition of 34,000 African-American and Latino churches working to eradicate racial disparities in healthcare, technology, education, housing, and the environment. The group which carried posters some of which read  "Justice for Trayvon Martin" and photos of Martin protested the court decision which found white-Hispanic Geroge Zimmerman (29) not guilty for killing the 17 year old black boy Trayvon Martin last year in Florida. The President of the NBCI Reverend Anthony Evans told Anadolu Agency, "If justice is not given, we will provide justice. We will boycott the state of Florida," and added that they will try to use their economic power if the case will not open again. Evans said that the peaceful protests will continue in the US and noted, "We will spread the seed of justice for the family of Martin." Beverly who attended the protests said, "We want justice, we search for justice. If there is no justice, peace is not possible." The group prayed together in front of the United States Department of Justice after reading a press statement.
